OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Bay County Emergency Food Pantry Network is to assist families and individuals with Food Assistance when they fall through the cracks, through no fault of their own, of the normal assistance system.

We are not an Agency that provides long term care. We leave that mission to agencies that specialize in providing food at reduced costs. But, if the emergency is for an extended period and has an end in sight, we are there to help. While our normal time of service is 1-7 days, based upon the need, assistance may be offered for an extended period of time based upon the situation.

During the Holiday season, our Network bands together to help families with Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday food baskets providing a family with the essentials for a holiday meal. Additional items are usually provided to round out their season. While our parishioners are the main source of funding for food basket items, we have relied heavily on donations from grants or local resources in order to provide meat, bread and other essential items for these baskets. (We also provide Holiday food baskets for Easter and Back to School.)

Our strengths are to work together across denominational lines - not to bandage hunger, but to make a difference in the families who fall through the gaps helping them to bridge the gap as long term solutions are sought and found. Our point of entry continues to be our Network office, which is an unmanned answering service. Our Network coordinator, then gets in touch with the food pantry that is closest to the individual or can provide a type of service that they need. There are multiple food pantries in our Network that operate at different times and through different individuals. Our Network coordinator matches the need with the food pantry that can best provide the assistance.
